Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has a better chance of salvaging his Old Trafford career after his World Cup performances, claims journalist Dean Jones.
The England defender has barely played for the Red Devils this season and has previously been linked with a move away from the club, but Jones has suggested that he could turn things around now that he has found a bit of form.

Man United transfer news – Harry Maguire
Erik ten Hag has made it clear that he is happy to have Maguire in his squad and would only sell him if the player wanted to leave.
“Only if he doesn’t want to be in these circumstances anymore,” the Dutchman said (via the Daily Mirror) when asked if his skipper could depart Old Trafford.
“Until that moment, I am happy with him. I have said it to him and you, I can do nothing more. It is up to him to contribute to play himself into the team.”
Back in August, the Daily Mail claimed that Chelsea made an enquiry about Maguire’s availability.
What has Dean Jones said about Harry Maguire’s Man United career?
Jones thinks Maguire is now in a stronger position to save his United career after finding a bit of form at the World Cup.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the transfer reporter said: “I think we have to consider Harry Maguire’s form at the World Cup and his situation. He’ll be back on the bench when he returns to club football.
“At some stage soon, he will get a game at Man United, though. And from there, there’s a better chance of him salvaging his Man United career with some sort of form in his back pocket now, so I think there’s still a lot to play out before a transfer actually comes to fruition.”

How did Harry Maguire perform at the World Cup?
Maguire had a very good tournament in Qatar. On WhoScored, he was actually England’s third-highest rated player.
No one in Gareth Southgate’s squad won more aerial duels on average than him (three), while he also ranked in the top five for tackles (1.4).
Ultimately, the 29-year-old played his part in helping England reach the quarter-finals. He will now be hoping he can make a similar contribution at United after making just three starts in the Premier League this season, as per Transfermarkt.
Maguire, who earns £200,000 a week at Old Trafford, according to Salary Sport, was unavailable for selection for some matches because of injury. But now that he is fit again and has found some form, he will be looking to cement a spot in Ten Hag’s side.
