Hertha BSC coach Sandro Schwarz has waxed lyrical about Derry Scherhant, saying the youngster is “definitely a candidate to start” against Bochum.

20-year-old Derry Scherhant could make his first senior start when Hertha BSC face Bochum in the Bundesliga this Saturday.
With Chidera Ejuke (knee) and Dodi Lukebakio (suspended) ruled out, the young attacker is a candidate to start after impressing during the winter break.
“Regardless of the fact that ‘Chidi’ and Dodi are out, you have to say that Derry has taken a particular step up in terms of his development,” Hertha coach Sandro Schwarz told reporters ahead of the game.
“He has been working well against the ball and is definitely a candidate to start.”
Scherhant has made two substitute appearances for Hertha so far. He has featured 43 times for the reserves, racking up 20 goals and nine assists.
