Having an elite goalkeeper can be the difference maker for potential contenders waiting to break through.

That said, below are the 20 Premier League goalkeepers who take home the most money each week. It’s a star-studded list, with some of the biggest names in the division.

Some interesting goalkeeping names rank outside the top 10 earners, including Wolverhampton Wanderers’ duo Sam Johnstone (£50,000) and Jose Sa (£60,000). They have been rotated over the past year, and Vitor Pereira will need them to be worth their buck.

Brentford replaced Mark Flekken with Caoimhin Kelleher and handed the former Liverpool shot-stopper a £55,000 per week contract. There has been much debate over Robert Sanchez continuing as Chelsea’s number one, but the Spaniard isn’t too pricey at £60,000 per week, the same amount Bournemouth are paying his ex-teammate Djordje Petrovic.

If Guglielmo Vicario didn’t spend most of last season on the sidelines, the Tottenham goalkeeper may feel he warrants a higher salary given his importance. But the Italian is on £75,000 per week, just behind Liverpool’s new number two, Giorgi Mamardashvili (£85,000 per week).

Kicking off the top 10 of the highest-paid goalkeepers in the Premier League is Manchester City’s backup shot-stopper Stefan Ortega Moreno. The German has been at the Etihad since 2022 and accepted limited game time while serving under Ederson.

The Brazilian’s departure hasn’t changed this status; in fact, James Trafford’s arrival has only further pushed him down Pep Guardiola’s pecking order. But he does take home a nice sum of £90,000 per week while watching his side from the bench.

The veteran goalkeeper’s future was at risk in the summer following the arrival of Mads Hermansen from Leicester City. But the Dane’s nightmare start to life at the London Stadium has given Areola hope of retaining his place between the sticks.
