Leeds United target Boulaye Dia ‘could do well in the Premier League’ should he make the switch to Elland Road, according to The Guardian’s Ed Aarons.
The 26-year-old is enjoying a productive loan spell with Serie A outfit Salernitana from Villarreal at this moment in time but has been linked with a switch to English shores.
Leeds United transfer news – Boulaye Dia
Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) have claimed that Leeds, West Ham United and Nottingham Forest are all in the running to secure Dia’s services.
Salernitana are expected to make the Senegal international’s stay at the club permanent by exercising their €12 million (£10.3m) option to buy next summer before immediately putting him up for sale.
The Italian side’s hierarchy are then reportedly going to demand around €17 million (£14.6m) for Dia, who is also said to be attracting interest from fellow Serie A clubs.
It seems as though the in-demand forward will not be short of potential suitors over the coming months, but Jesse Marsch will surely be hoping Leeds can win the race for his signature.
What has Aarons said about Dia?
Aarons believes that it is perhaps the ‘time for him to make the move’ to the Premier League after Dia was previously linked before opting to join Villarreal.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “He’s on loan in Serie A this season with Salernitana from Villarreal.
“And he made a bit of an impression in Spain last year as well, but I think he’s the sort of player that could do well in the Premier League. He’s 26 now, perhaps it’s time for him to make the move.”
Would Dia be a good signing?
Dia has been in impressive form for Salernitana this season, playing a pivotal part in the Italian minnows’ rise up to 12th position in the Serie A standings.
The 5 foot 11 ace has found the back of the net on six occasions in his 14 league outings, as per Transfermarkt, setting up two further strikes for his teammates.
As per WhoScored, Dia has also averaged 1.1 shots, 0.9 key passes, and 0.8 dribbles so far this season, placing him in the top five for each metric when compared to his teammates.
With Patrick Bamford still struggling with injury issues in the current campaign, the arrival of Dia could add some strength in depth in the final third of the pitch for Leeds.
