Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek ‘might be tempted’ to leave the club in January, according to journalist Dean Jones.
Van de Beek, who earns £140,000-per-week, has been unable to make an impact at Old Trafford during his two-and-a-half-year stay and could seek pastures new over the winter when the transfer market reopens for business.
What is the latest news involving Van de Beek?
The 25-year-old was tipped for big things when United prised him away from Ajax in a £40 million deal back in September 2020 after helping his former employers claim a domestic double while reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.
However, Van de Beek has failed to force his way into the Red Devils’ starting XI under three different managers now and appears to be surplus to requirements at this moment in time.
90min reported last month that the Netherlands international has been granted permission to leave United at the midway point in the season with fellow Premier League outfit Leicester City said to be taking an interest.

French outlet Jeunes Footeux (via the Daily Mail) state that the Foxes view Van de Beek as an ideal replacement for Youri Tielemans should he finally seal an exit.
Tielemans has entered the final 10 months of his contract at the King Power Stadium and could kickstart a domino effect resulting in Van de Beek moving on from his United nightmare.
What has Jones said about Van de Beek?
There are a handful of players who are either unhappy at the Theatre of Dreams or who obviously do not feature in Erik ten Hag’s plans at this moment in time.

And when asked if Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Cristiano Ronaldo are the most likely departures from United during January, Jones informed GiveMeSport that Van de Beek can ‘probably’ be put into that category too.
He said: “Yeah, I mean, you could probably throw in Van de Beek because if someone was to make a genuine offer of some decent money for Van de Beek, I do wonder at this point whether he might be tempted.”
Do Man Utd need Van de Beek?
Ten Hag spent last summer unsuccessfully pursuing Frenkie de Jong before eventually giving up on the Barcelona midfielder, bringing in Christian Eriksen and Casemiro instead.
The likes of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard still departed the 20-time English champions, though, leaving them light on options in the middle of the park.
A replacement would surely need to be found for Van de Beek if he was sold, therefore, but Ten Hag evidently doesn’t trust his compatriot having only handed him two starts this season.
