Michael Zorc worked for Borussia Dortmund from 1998 to 2022, first as director of football and from 2005 as sporting director.
At the club’s annual general meeting on Monday, it was officially announced that the 62-year-old is returning in an important role. He was elected to the supervisory board with 90.08 percent of the votes.
In addition to Zorc, Carsten Schmid was appointed to the board to replace departing members Christian Kullmann and Bodo Löttgen.
The way for Zorc’s comeback was paved by managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke, who himself is preparing to leave the boardroom.
“I have spent many hours trying to convince Michael Zorc,” Watzke said in a speech.
