RB Leipzig head coach Marco Rose warns that the Saxony club will never be able to keep Erling Haaland completely quiet as the Bundesliga side face Manchester City in the Champions League Last 16 on Tuesday night with the tie level at 1-1.
Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s game, Rose said: “Everyone knows about Haaland’s qualities. We were able to defend well against him in the first leg, but you’ll never be able to keep him completely quiet. They don’t just have Erling, there will be many world class players we’ll need to be alert for.”
Manchester City took the lead through Riyad Mahrez after 27 minutes in the first-leg, but Joško Gvardiol leveled the tie after 70 minutes, giving RB Leipzig an excellent chance of advancing to the Champions League quarter-final.
But they know that it won’t be easy. Manchester City come into the game following a 1-0 win against Crystal Palace at the weekend, whilst beat Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-0.
Timo Werner has 18 goal contributions (13 goals, 5 assists) in 27 games across all competitions for RB Leipzig this season. The 27-year-old is expected to start at the Etihad on Tuesday night.
