Bayern Munich were eliminated from the FIFA Club World Cup following their 2-0 defeat against PSG, but their performance was overshadowed by a horrific injury to Jamal Musiala.
Musiala started for the first time in three months having only just returned from injury but a collision with Gianluigi Donnarumma in stoppage time of the first half resulted in the 22-year-old getting his leg caught under the PSG shot-stopper. Immediately after the incident, players in the vicinity looked shocked, and Sky Germany now report that Musiala has suffered a fractured fibula. It’s a serious injury that will keep the German playmaker out for some time, and Vincent Kompany had his say on the injury.
“I’ve rarely been so angry at half-time, not against my players – I know there are much more important things in life, but for these guys it’s their life,” said Bayern’s head coach (h/t: iMiaSanMia). “Someone like Jamal lives for this. He just came back from a setback and now this happens. You feel powerless.
“My blood is still boiling right now. Not because of the result, that’s football, but because it happened to someone that enjoys the game so much.”
