Sky Germany reports that Borussia Dortmund has achieved the conditions that make Yan Couto‘s loan from Manchester City permanent.
The deal is said to be worth a total of €24m and he will sign a contract at the club until 2029. The loan deal contained obligations which were very easy to meet, and have already been achieved.
Since joining in the summer, Couto has played seven times for Dortmund and provided one assist in the DFB Pokal against Phönix Lübeck, but away from that the 22-year-old has been a victim of Dortmund’s unstable form and has yet to show the quality and form he showed when he was at Girona last season.
Dortmund are 7th in the Bundesliga after six games and have yet to build any sort of consistency such as convincingly beating Celtic 7-1 at home, to then losing to Union Berlin 2-1 in underwhelming fashion only a few days later. This has raised question on if head coach Nuri Sahin is really an upgrade to Edin Terzic, especially after the way they were dismantled by VfB Stuttgart.
