Wolverhampton Wanderers set to complete signing of PSG midfielder Pablo Sarabia

Pablo Sarabia is on the verge of completing a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, reports Paris-based journalist Saber Desfarges.

Sarabia first joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2019, signing from Sevilla on a five-year contract. He spent last season on loan at Sporting CP, where he scored an impressive 21 goals in all competitions.

The 30-year-old returned to the Parc des Princes this summer but has been unable to get on the scoresheet.

He has struggled for game time, making just three starts in the league with a further 11 appearances off the bench.

Earlier in the window, it was reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Julen Lopetegui wanted to bring the midfielder to Molineux.

The pair briefly worked together when Lopetegui was appointed at Sevilla, although Sarabia was sold a month later.

Now, they are set for a reunion. According to Saber Desfarges, and relayed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Wolves have reached an agreement with PSG for the Spaniard. It is believed that the deal is worth an initial €5 million plus add-ons.

It’s been a difficult season for the Midlands side so far. They currently sit in 19th place in the Premier League, having won just three of their 18 matches.

The main problem for Lopetegui’s men has been in front of goal. They are the division’s lowest scorers with just 11, and only five of their players have found the net.

Sarabia should provide them with more of a goal threat, having scored on 108 occasions during his career. Additionally, he offers cover in central areas and out wide.

Wolves have made just one signing in January, bringing in Matheus Cunha on loan from Atletico Madrid.

Former Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina is expected to arrive soon, while a deal for Flamengo youngster Joao Gomes is being worked on.
