SportBild reports that Ridle Baku is attracting interest from four different clubs with scouts being sent to watch the 24-year-old.
Arsenal, Chelsea, RB Leipzig and Villarreal have all sent scouts to watch Baku at some point this season. Chelsea’s new technical director Christopher Vivell had previously shown an interest in the 24-year-old and considered signing him in the winter. Baku’s current contract at Wolfsburg expires in 2025 and he is currently worth €13m.
Baku joined Wolfsburg from his hometown team of Mainz in 2020 for €10m and since then he has been a regular in the team. The 24-year-old is versatile and during his time at Wolfsburg, he has played as a right-back, right-midfielder, right-winger and at times as a central midfielder.
This season has seen Baku mainly play as a right-back featuring 29 times for Wolfsburg scoring five and assisting once as well.
Despite Germany’s lack of a right-back, Baku’s performances have rarely merited a call-up to the German national team and when he has played he has normally played as a winger. His one appearance at right-back for Germany was in a 2-0 win against Liechtenstein in 2021.
