VfL Wolfsburg have announced that Josuha Guilavogui will leave the club when his contract expires this summer after nine years at the Volkswagen Arena.
“Josh is one of those players whose value cannot be measured in numbers alone. Not only on the pitch, but also off it, he has done great things over a long period of time. With his dedication and exemplary mentality, he is a figurehead for the values of VfL Wolfsburg. We will miss him as a footballer, as a person and as a cheerful character in the dressing room,” said VfL managing director Marcel Schäfer.
“At the same time, however, we respect his desire to take on a new challenge and get more playing time than he has had recently,” he added.
Guilavogui commented:
“I’ll leave VfL with a smile on my face and until then, I’ll enjoy every day that I’m still here. Long romances don’t always end well, but I’m lucky to be one of those privileged people who leave with a twinkle in their eye when the time comes to say goodbye. I would like to thank VfL Wolfsburg for a wonderful and educational time. My head is full of memories and as they say, our history book always stays open, we just turn a page”.
