Wissam Ben Yedder’s indictment has been overturned

There’s been a development in the case involving Wissam Ben Yedder (35). According to L’Équipe, the former AS Monaco and Toulouse FC striker has had his prior ruling overturned.

The Aix-en-Provence Court of Appeal made the decision on Thursday. The former French international, along with his brother Sabri, were supposed to stand trial on charges of rape.

The appeals court, however have in essence annulled the November decision. The lawyers for the Ben Yedder brothers praised the decision, believing the accusations against the two were based on a flawed interpretation of the evidence.

Evidently, the appeals court agreed with the defence team that there were no factual and legal grounds for some of the charges against the pair. Monaco’s former top talisman has always maintained his innocence on the matter and believes the appeals court heard him on that front.

The 35-year-old signed a six-month deal with Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca in January of this year. He was a part of the French national team that captured the UEFA Nations League in 2021.
