Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly ready to sign Patrick Wimmer, but the Wolfsburg attacker is hesitating because of interest from RB Leipzig.
Patrick Wimmer’s future at VfL Wolfsburg remains uncertain, with multiple clubs reportedly vying for the Austrian international.
According to Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung and Aller Zeitung, Brighton & Hove Albion are currently pushing hardest, with a contract offer already agreed upon.
However, Wimmer is said to be hesitating due to interest from RB Leipzig. The 24-year-old is understood to be open to a move to the Red Bull Arena, but Leipzig’s unresolved coaching situation is a stumbling block.
Ole Werner is the leading candidate to take over, but negotiations over a compensation fee between RB Leipzig and Werder Bremen, where he remains under contract, have yet to be finalized.
The transfer fee for Wimmer appears to be less of an obstacle. According to WA/AZ, RB Leipzig are willing to meet Wolfsburg’s €20 million valuation for the winger.
