Vincent Kompany wary of Augsburg threat: ‘We know it won’t be easy’

Bayern Munich will seek revenge against Augsburg on Saturday. Last time out, Augsburg overturned a 1-0 deficit to claim a comeback victory, bringing an end to Bayern’s 27-game unbeaten run in the Bundesliga.

Speaking at Friday’s press conference, Vincent Kompany is ready to get back to action after a three week break. “I’d rather play every three days than what we’ve had for the last three weeks,” the Belgian said, but he knows the threat that Augsburg pose. “We know it won’t be easy,” he added.

Augsburg sit fourth with two wins, a draw and defeat. “They’re not only compact, but can also be dangerous in possession,” he emphasised, noting “a lot of hidden individual quality in the team.”

Kompany, though, will have an almost full strength squad at his disposal. According to Kicker, Jamal Musiala remains the only absentee, but Alphonso Davies and Luis Diaz could be rested, while Ismail Saibari is expected to come in for Musiala, while Serge Gnabry could also be an option to start after making his comeback in Bayern’s 7-0 victory over Union Berlin prior to the international break.
