Following their head-scratching start to the season, Stuttgart have won their last two competitive games against Bochum and Arminia Bielefeld by a combined score of 10-1. Interim trainer Michael Wimmer shared his approval of the team’s improved play after their DFB-Pokal win:
“I am happy for the team that we now have a wide chest and hopefully we’ll take it with us to Dortmund. It’s all beautiful – and I have a clear agreement with (Sporting Director) Sven Mislintat. I will remain the head coach until the club finds a new coach.”
Mislintat commented that, “It gives us time to find the best possible solution. And one thing is also clear. Even if someone else comes, Michi is part of the solution.”
Ajax’s Alfred Schreuder and former Copenhagen trainer Jess Thorup are their top two candidates. Wimmer will coach Stuttgart in their 15:30 match against Dortmund on Saturday.
