Will Still to remain Reims manager next season

Will Still will still be Stade de Reims manager next season, according to a report from L’Équipe. The Anglo-Belgian coaching sensation, who took over from Óscar García last October and led Reims to a 19-game unbeaten league run, is expected to continue his promising career in Ligue 1. During Still’s stint, Reims went from relegation-battlers to European contenders for a short time. The Champagne side are 11th in the league following a mediocre run of results.

However, Still’s lauded man management and tactical nous were enough to convince Reims’ hierarchy that they do not need to find another coach. Still’s famous lack of diploma, that earns Reims a €25,000 fine per game, is a situation that will soon come to an end. Indeed, the Football Manager and West Ham United enthusiast will obtain his UEFA Pro Licence at the end of the year. Still is set to enter into talks with Reims to seek improved terms. Still is currently on €18,500 in monthly wages, which is barely more than the minimum of €17,920 established by the coaches’ union. The Anglo-Belgian coach is reportedly looking to quadruple his salary.

Still allegedly doesn’t want to cut any corners and wants to spend at least a full season in Ligue 1 before entertaining the prospect of coaching in the Premier League, his lifelong dream. L’Équipe adds that several English top flight clubs are already monitoring Still’s situation.
