Why Shara Magomedov Keeps Singing Michael Bisping’s Praises

The budding friendship between one-eyed fighters Sharabutdin ‘Bullet’ Magomedov and retired former middleweight champion Michael Bisping might be the best bromance in the UFC right now.

GIVEMESPORT has reported previously about how Bisping became an inspiration for Magomedov, on account of how the great Brit fought through a condition in which he only had the use of complete sight in one eye. Magomedov has a similar condition and, in Bisping, it seems he found a kindred spirit.

What makes the bromance all the more heartwarming is the fact that at least one of them keeps bringing it up whenever they see each other.

We’ve Got a Bromance, People!

Michael Bisping and Sharabutdin Magomedov can’t stop talking positively about one another

Magomedov and Bisping are both currently in Saudi Arabia for a UFC event in Riyadh on Saturday, the 1st of February. For Magomedov, he returns to the Octagon against one of the biggest-name opponents he’s fought so far — Michael ‘Venom’ Page.

And though Page is a compatriot of Bisping’s, ‘The Count’ has a soft spot for a fighter he’s unwittingly mentored. Bisping will be on the mic as part of the commentary team for the UFC event.

Ahead of the show, they shared a heartwarming moment — albeit one that required a translator.

“I needed to tell myself, I needed motiviation to fight in the championships, because I thought with my condition, I thought I’d never be allowed to do that,” Magomedov said ahead of his middleweight fight against Page.

“And that’s when I started following you and I saw that you were also having issues with your eyes, and not telling anybody. And I was doing the same thing — hiding it from people. I needed to speak to somebody like you, to get advice, ‘Hey, what should I do?’ But I knew zero English. I didn’t know how to approach you.

“When I saw what you were able to achieve with your condition, and with mine being so similar, you were a huge motivation to even be in this sport in the first place.”

Bisping said Magomedov’s comments about him were “humbling.”

Watch it right here:

Magomedov and Page fight in Saturday’s co-feature. The headline bout is another middleweight fight, one that is contested between the former champion Israel Adesanya and rising contender Nassourdine Imavov.
