Bayer Leverkusen have released an official statement announcing that head coach Kasper Hjulmand will not be attending the Champions League match between the Werkself and Premier League side Newcastle United.
The club cited personal reasons for his absence but did not provide further details.
Assistant coach Rogier Meijer will take charge on the sidelines for the Champions League clash. Hjulmand is expected to return in time for the weekend’s derby against 1. FC Köln in the Bundesliga.
