Sergio Busquets’ time at Barcelona will come to an end on 30 June, when his current contract expires, according to Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo.
In recent weeks he had been considering the option of continuing to play under head coach Xavi.
The midfielder has, however, taken the decision to move on after 15 years in the first team, as Mundo Deportivo understands from sources close to the Barça captain.
Busquets has decided to embark on a new move that could take him to Major League Soccer (MLS), probably to Inter Miami, a club with which he has already been in contact.
There are some European clubs that would be willing to convince him to stay and play in the Champions League, but he wants to try the American league and has some good offers, the main one being from Inter Miami.
Negotiations, as MD explain, are already underway and will continue throughout December and in the first weeks of January.
Busquets would like to be joined by Lionel Messi at Inter Miami – because apart from their friendship, their families also have a very good relationship – but the Argentinian could considering postponing his move to the U.S. until a year from now to remain at PSG.
So if Messi does not make the move to Miami this summer, they could eventually meet up again in 2024.
