Things aren’t going great for Rafael Leao at Serie A giants Milan and Paulo Fonseca has shown some courage in dropping him from games and bringing him off during the recent Champions League clash against Club Brugge.
He has been clear about his selection, stating that every player has to be ‘box-to-box’ and if Leao does that, he would be a better player.
La Gazzetta dello Sport look at the situation further, stating that Fonseca wants Leao to apply himself more when Milan don’t have possession and he wants the player to think for the team and not for himself.
On top of that, there is pressure from the top for Fonseca to be himself and for him to execute his vision in the most ruthless way. He is doing that and there is support from above for him to do what he desires to. As a result, only one thing can impact the situation and that is Leao improving and playing like Fonseca wants.
If that doesn’t happen, Leao can be on the bench more often.
