West Ham plot Brighton transfer talks to facilitate Chelsea and Tottenham loan deals

West Ham are interested in signing Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky and Chelsea central defender Axel Disasi on loan

West Ham are ready to explore the potential termination of defender Igor Julio’s loan amid interest in Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky and Chelsea defender Axel Disasi.

The Hammers are expected to be among the Premier League’s busiest clubs between now and the January 2 transfer deadline as they seek to complete multiple deals for Nuno Espirito Santo.

The east London outfit have already held informal talks with Spurs over signing Kinsky on loan for the rest of the season, though any move would also hinge on Tottenham landing a replacement.

There are strong rumblings that could yet be Mads Hermansen, who has failed to make an impact at the London Stadium following his £20million summer transfer from Leicester City.

It remains to be seen whether the deal for Kinsky goes through – there should be some clarity in the next 48 hours – but even if they are able to land the Czech, Disasi is a separate loan target.

However, any deal for Disasi – on top of Kinsky – would require West Ham to successfully negotiate the termination of Igor’s loan with Brighton.

It’s not currently clear whether there is a break clause within the agreement that was hurried through on transfer deadline day back in September.

Per official rules, Premier League clubs can only have two players on loan at once from fellow top-flight sides. Yet there is a further complication because Igor has already featured for Brighton this season in the Carabao Cup, playing 90 minutes in a 6-0 victory over Oxford United back in August.

As he’s now featured for two clubs during one season, he would not be able to head elsewhere this month. FIFA regulations stipulate that players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs in a single season but are only permitted to play official matches for two of them.

The only exception – as seen with Charlotte FC’s interest in Harvey Elliott – is when a club operating from a different calendar enters the picture. In this case, Palmeiras have made checks on Igor’s situation and he would be able to play for them because the 2026 season in Brazil is just about to begin.

Igor’s former club Fiorentina have also shown interest in bringing him back to Florence at the end of the campaign.

It’s not clear whether Brighton would be prepared to take Igor back as part of Fabian Hurzeler’s squad for the second half of the season given he’s only played 104 Premier League minutes all season. He has not featured since November when he played 90 minutes in a 2-2 draw at Bournemouth.

Nottingham Forest are showing interest in Albion skipper Lewis Dunk, who Brighton do not want to sell but it’s another separate side story that could bring Igor’s future into play.

Igor, 27, had looked set to join Crystal Palace in September before a last-minute U-turn saw him head across London to West Ham for a medical.

The dramatic twist eventually proved to be the reason Palace captain Marc Guehi did not sign for Liverpool and he’s since joined Manchester City, instead.

Chelsea defender Disasi spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa. He is also wanted by Stade Rennes and was recently reintegrated into training by new Blues boss Liam Rosenior. His future at Stamford Bridge, however, still looks bleak.

If Igor’s loan cannot be terminated, any West Ham deal for Disasi would have to be permanent should Kinsky join on loan.

West Ham are also expected to complete the permanent signing of Adama Traore from Fulham and there’s still hope they can land a midfielder after allowing Andy Irving and Guido Rodriguez to join Sparta Prague and Valencia, respectively.
