West Ham may look to sell Tomas Soucek if they cannot come to an agreement with the midfielder on a new contract, according to The Express journalist Ryan Taylor.
Soucek has spent the last two-and-a-half years at the London Stadium, but his future is a little uncertain, as things stand.
What’s the latest news involving Soucek?
The 27-year-old has been a key figure in West Ham’s starting XI ever since he joined the club. After arriving in January 2020, he has gone on to make 105 appearances in all competitions, scoring 19 goals during this period.
However, negotiations over a new contract have not gone smoothly. The Guardian recently reported that the player and his employers are currently at an impasse, and are still yet to agree on fresh terms to keep him in east London.
Soucek’s current deal is set to run out in 2024, although the club do have an option to extend this by a further 12 months.

What has Taylor said about Soucek’s future?
Taylor thinks there is a chance that West Ham could look to cash in on the £40.5m-rated midfielder if they can’t get him to sign a new contract, or if they feel they can find a better option in the middle of the park.
When asked by GIVEMESPORT how he expected Soucek’s future to pan out, Taylor said: “It’s largely dictated by the contract situation. If West Ham internally feel that a new contract isn’t something that’s going to happen or they don’t want to pay money that Soucek wants, or they feel they can upgrade, then they might look to move on.”
Should West Ham look to sell Soucek?
Soucek did look a little jaded during the second half of last season as he struggled to consistently find his best form.
However, this is hardly a surprise given how many games he was playing, with West Ham going deep in the Europa League.
He was still able to produce some impressive statistics across the course of the campaign, with FBref numbers revealing that he ranked in the 99th percentile for clearances and the 98th percentile for aerial duels won per 90 minutes.
At his best, he is still a major asset in both boxes, and he has formed a strong understanding with Declan Rice over the last couple of years.
With Mark Noble now retired, the Irons look short of options in central midfield, and this will become even more of an issue if Soucek leaves.
Therefore, unless West Ham have at least one suitable replacement lined up, they should do everything they can to come to an agreement with Soucek to tie him down to a new deal.
