West Ham United are likely to sign Everton star Michael Keane as there is a London Stadium ‘deal to be done’, journalist Paul Brown has told GiveMeSport.
Hammers boss David Moyes is looking to strengthen his squad during the winter transfer window as his side currently find themselves fighting for their Premier League future.
West Ham transfer news – Michael Keane
According to The Athletic, West Ham could look to draft Keane in on loan for the remainder of the season if Craig Dawson leaves due to family reasons.
The report suggests the central defender was linked with a move to the capital during the summer and Moyes’ admiration has refused to go away.
Keane is likely to leave Everton on a temporary basis after being pushed down the pecking order by summer arrivals Conor Coady and James Tarkowski.
West Ham have registered their interest in the 29-year-old, while Nottingham Forest could offer a permanent move away from Goodison Park for £15million.
Transfer insider Dean Jones recently told GiveMeSport that the Hammers are considering a move for Keane as he matches the profile of player Moyes is targeting.
What has Paul Brown said about Keane?
Brown believes Keane would be a strong acquisition for West Ham as he would fit seamlessly into the backline.
The journalist feels the east Londoners will succeed in their pursuit if they up the ante and head to the negotiating table.
Brown told GiveMeSport: “I think he’s quite an underrated player who would fit quite well into that back four.
“I could see this one happening. There’s a deal to be done there, definitely. If West Ham want him badly enough, I think they’ll get him in January.”

Would Keane be a good signing for West Ham?
It is clear that Keane is a threat from set pieces as FBref statistics show he is in the 98th percentile for goals among his positional peers in Europe’s top five leagues and continental competitions over the last year.
Another plus point from Moyes’ point of view will be that the 12-cap England international has already made 219 Premier League appearances, meaning he will not need to be given time to adjust to the rigours of the top flight.
West Ham forked out £10.1million to sign Thilo Kehrer from reigning Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain during the summer, but it could be argued that Keane would have been a better option.
That is because he has averaged considerably more clearances than the German per 90 minutes this season.
The fact that Keane has been restricted to just 22 minutes of Premier League action during the current campaign means it could be fairly simple for West Ham to reach an agreement to bring him to the London Stadium and Moyes should not hesitate.
