After impressing for Werder Bremen this season, Romano Schmid has been linked with a move away from the club.
However, the 25-year-old would only be willing to leave the Weserstadion if it’s for a real step forward.
“A sideways step would not be an option for me. If it were to happen, it would have to be a step forward,” Schmid told Sky Germany.
“But I’m happy to have a contract here, and I think the Werder bosses are happy that I’m here too.”
English Premier League clubs are believed to be keeping tabs on Schmid, who has one year left on his current deal.
Schmid has scored four goals and provided six assists in 29 games for Werder this season.
