Additional examinations on SV Werder Bremen wingback Mitchell Weir’s ankle have revealed a ligament injury that will definitely sideline the 28-year-old for this weekend’s coming league fixture against Frankfurt. The Hanseatic club did not reveal further details apart from the fact that the supplier of eight assists in the league this year would be kept off the training pitch for the foreseeable future.

“Of course it’s a shame that Mitchell isn’t available for us against Eintracht,” SV head-coach Ole Werner remarked in a statement released by the club, “We’ll have to wait and see how things develop and see when he can start training again.”
