For the first time in their Bundesliga history, FC Augsburg are unbeaten in nine successive matches. Since replacing Enrico Maaßen at the helm, Jess Thorup sets new heights at the Bavarians as they once again look to beat the drop before the final couple of months.
“Two wins in one season against BVB means something for FC Augsburg,” said the Danish coach after the match. “We knew that we needed a good performance over 90 minutes. We also had the belief and effectiveness in front of the goal.
“Even though Dortmund had more possession, we remained calm to defend as a unit. In the final phase, we could have made better use of our counterattack opportunities. But, we can enjoy this day, and then focus on Wolfsburg again next week.”
