La Liga was cloaked in shame on Sunday evening as Vinicius Junior was once again racially abused, and to further escalate the matter worse, ended up being sent off.
During Real Madrid’s 1-0 defeat to Valencia on Sunday night, Vinicius claims he heard racial abuse from fans behind the goal and went over to point them out and confont them.
Later Carlo Ancelotti would claim that he heard the entire stadium chanting ‘monkey’ at Vinicius, something Valencia vehemently disputed.
Regardless, footage has emerged from ahead of the game at Mestalla, where players can be seen exiting the Real Madrid bus to clear chants of ‘Vinicius, you are a monkey’.

Perhaps just as concerning is the face in the video police can be seen standing in the video with little attempt to enforce the law in the face of such blatant racism.
pero si a mí me dijeron que el que llamaba mono a vinicius era sólo 1 persona🤡🤡 pic.twitter.com/xou6MpybDg

This is the clearest manifestation of racism against Vinicius since an effigy of Vinicius was hung from a bridge ahead of Real Madrid’s tie with Atletico Madrid back in January. The footage of those chants also make the term ‘isolated incidents’ ring a little hollow. The eyes of the world are now on La Liga and Spain to fix the issue.
