South American players from the first-team squads at Barcelona and Atlético Madrid came together for a heartfelt exchange in the aftermath of the latest meeting between the sides.
Barca and Atlético of course locked horns for the latest occasion on Wednesday night.
With a place in the finale of the Copa del Rey on the line, the latter acted as hosts, welcoming Hansi Flick’s troops to the Metropolitano.
When all was said and done, it was the Blaugrana who held their nerve, a solitary strike on the part of Ferran Torres having kept alive hopes of a historic treble.
And as alluded to above, following the full-time whistle, one of Barcelona’s leading stars waited behind in the tunnel, to pay his respects to Atléti midfielder Rodrigo De Paul.
Raphinha and De Paul are fresh off facing off on the international front, in a highly-anticipated World Cup qualifier between Brazil and Argentina.
And though the former were ultimately embarrassed to the tune of a 4-1 defeat, Raphinha nevertheless showed his class on Wednesday, affording some encouraging words to De Paul, before swapping jerseys with the 30-year-old.
