Warren Zaïre-Emery needs written parental permission to play for France in Greece

As reported by L’Équipe, Warren Zaïre-Emery (17) has needed to provide written parental consent to travel with Les Bleus to face Greece.

Zaïre-Emery became the youngest Frenchman since Maurice Gastiger in 1914 to receive a call-up to the senior France team. The call-up is another milestone in what has been a rapid rise for Zaïre-Emery, who in the space of the past 12 months, has broken into the Paris Saint-Germain first-team, consolidated his place and also captained Les Bleuets.

Didier Deschamps has called up Zaïre-Emery for the two upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers, with France’s place in the competition already booked. Les Bleus face Gibraltar at the Allianz Riviera in Nice on Saturday, before travelling to Athens to face Greece on Tuesday.

Zaïre-Emery, at the age of just 17, is required to provide written parental consent in order to make the trip with the rest of Les Bleus squad. Since 2017, all minors (persons under the age of 18) are required to provide an authorisation to leave the French territory without a parent. This law was brought in in June 2016 in order to counter terrorism. His parents have therefore had to sign a Cerfa form, which will allow him to make the journey to Greece with the rest of the France squad.
