Warren Zaïre-Emery ‘frustrated’ following injury on France debut

Warren Zaïre-Emery (17) has taken to Instagram to voice his frustrations at the injury that saw his France debut against Gibraltar end prematurely. The PSG midfielder’s debut was bittersweet as he scored his first senior goal for Les Bleus on his debut but was also injured in the process. Zaïre-Emery’s debut was drawn to a halt after 16 minutes.

The France international has commented on the injury on Instagram, saying “Frustrated that I had to leave the field so soon but also proud and honoured to have celebrated my first selection with a goal.” The 17-year-old got off to a flying start with a goal but was unable to play any further part in what was a record-breaking night for France as they recorded their biggest-ever victory (14-0) against Gibraltar.

Zaïre-Emery will now be out of action until 2024, following scans revealed that the midfielder had sustained a serious ankle sprain to his right foot. Fabrice Hawkins reports that the PSG academy graduate has also suffered ligament damage. A huge blow for both PSG.
