Villarreal and Ajax have reached an agreement regarding the transfer of Gerónimo Rulli, report Relevo.
Yesterday it was communicated that the Dutch outfit were keen on bringing the Argentine player to Amsterdam as they want to strengthen their goalkeeping department.
While Villarreal were not happy with Ajax’s initial proposal, club president Fernando Roig has accepted the Eredivisie side’s improved offer worth between €10m and €15m, including bonuses.
It is believed that Ajax and Rulli have already agreed personal terms and the 30-year-old will travel to the Netherlands in order to finalise the deal.
The Yellow Submarine are not planning to sign a replacement for Rulli, as Pepe Reina is expected to become the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, while youngster Filip Jörgensen will be the veteran’s back-up.
Rulli arrived to Villarreal from Real Sociedad in 2020 for just €5m and was part of the side that reached the semi-finals of the Champions League last season.
