Víctor Orta recently left Leeds United before the Yorkshire club were relegated to the Championship. AS report that Orta is the favourite to take over as Sevilla’s new sporting director and replace Monchi, with whom he has a great personal relationship.
Monchi has informed Sevilla of his intention to leave the club and could join a Premier League side this summer. Orta knows the La Liga club well, having spent seven years as Monchi’s technical director and right-hand man from 2006 to 2013. After working at Zenit, Elche and Middlesbrough, he joined Leeds in 2017.
He is, however, not the only option that has been considered for the role. Braulio Vázquez, who has been with Osasuna since 2017, is also being considered in the Andalusian capital.
Monchi and the Sevilla board are now working on a way to part ways, something that is expected to happen sooner rather than later.
