Augsburg winger Ruben Vargas says he’s ready to leave the club if the right offer comes his way.
Back in January, Vargas turned down a move to Fiorentina to make sure he would get enough playing time ahead of the European Championship.
A strong second half of the season at Augsburg saw him make the final squad for the Swiss national team, and he is now ready to leave Die Fuggerstädter.
“It’s no secret that I would be ready for the next step if the offer suits me and FCA,” Vargas said at a press conference at the Swiss national team camp.
“I don’t feel any pressure in my decision. The European Championship gives me the chance to show what I can do. I am now fully committed to playing for Switzerland.”
Vargas and Switzerland are in Group A with hosts Germany, Hungary and Scotland.
The 25-year-old racked up four goals and four assists in 32 matches for Augsburg in the 2023/24 season. His contract expires in the summer of 2025.
