Manchester United have been handed a huge boost in their bid to sign one of the Bundesliga’s best defenders.
The Red Devils are expected to bolster the squad next year, and manager Ruben Amorim has asked for a ‘proper‘ signing for the left wing-back position.
The club have now received a boost in landing Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, as per Bild journalist Christian Falk.
Davies’ representative, Nick Househ, is reportedly angry with Bayern about the way the negotiations are being conducted at the moment.
He cancelled his trip to Munich and spoke to the club via video conferencing. Bayern sporting director Max Eberl was absent for the session.
Househ is now prepared to listen to offers from United and Real Madrid for Davies. Meetings are planned with both clubs in January.
Davies would be a huge statement signing for United
The 24-year-old operates as a left-back for Bayern and Canada, but he has played as a left-winger for his national team when required.
His defensive and attacking qualities make him an ideal fit for the left-wing-back role. He is viewed as a ‘dream solution‘ for manager Ruben Amorim.
It was reported yesterday that Davies was prepared to extend his Bayern contract beyond June 2025, but there has been a dramatic change in the last 24 hours.
The player’s agent was not impressed with the nature of the negotiations, which could open the door for United to land his signature on a free transfer next summer.

Davies is eyeing a weekly salary of £254,000 with a signing-on fee of around £12.5 million.
That is well within the reach of United. The board should be prepared to splash on a player who has been ‘world-class‘ for Bayern in recent years.
