Union’s Dehl receives cross-town loan-out

Union Berlin confirmed a new loan locale for midfield prospect Laurenz Dehl on Wednesday. The 21-year-old is headed over to Berlin’s Lichterfeld quarter.

Recently returned from a loan stint at Dublin’s Bohemians F.C., 21-year-old central midfielder Laurenz Dehl is now off to his third loan locale in as many years. Following loan spells at Bohemians and third-tier Bundesliga side Hallescher F.C., Dehl will spend the duration of the current season at FC Viktoria Berlin in the capital city’s Steglitz-Zehlendorf district in Germany’s fourth-tier.
Dehl’s parent club, 1. FC Union Berlin, confirmed the move within the capital city limits early on Wednesday afternoon. The Köpenick club promised that they would “keep an eye” on the rising talent whilst wishing him the best. FCU sporting director Oliver Ruhnert expressed the hope that Dehl could “make the most of his time” in the separate Berlin borough.

Dehl, a Berlin native who discussed his career in an exclusive interview with Bulinews staff writer Ultan Corcoran in November, began playing football in north-east section of Germany’s capital city. In commenting on his move to over to the south-west district, Dehl nevertheless noted that he felt at home everywhere in the capital.
