With UEFA’s decision to at least temporarily allow standing places in European competition, Union is officially free to hold their international games at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei.
For the first time in Union Berlin history, they will be playing at home on those glorious European nights. After disappointingly not being able to play at the Stadion An der Alten Förstere in European competition last year due to standing room, this is no more.
Instead, they were forced to play Europa Conference League contests at the rival Olympiastadion. But because UEFA are now testing out standing places in stadiums as part of a pilot project, Union supporters finally have their wish.
Matchday 1 of the Europa League begins on September 8th.
