Kylian Mbappé is in contention to win his fifth Ligue 1 Player of the Season accolade after being nominated in the UNFP’s annual award ceremony.
The Paris Saint-Germain winger has won the Player of the Season award in consecutive years since the 2019 season – the one exception being in the 2020 edition which was cancelled due to the global pandemic.
The Frenchman made history when he won his fourth award and remains the favourite to win the award again. Mbappé is the top goalscorer in the league and one of the standout performers for Les Parisiens in their title-winning season.
Alongside the France captain is his international teammate Ousmane Dembélé who earned his first nomination for Player of the Season since moving back to France in the summer.
Stade Brestois’s impressive season has translated into a nomination for midfielder Pierre Lees-Melou, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s feats with Olympique de Marseille have earned him the acclaim of his fellow players.
Edon Zhegrova has been one of the figureheads of another impressive Lille OSC season which saw the club play in their first-ever European quarter-final.
