VfB Stuttgart are struggling heavily with injuries ahead of their Bundesliga clash with VfL Bochum on Saturday.
The Bundesliga outfit confirmed on Thursday that star striker Deniz Undav suffered a muscle strain in training on Wednesday. As a result, he could be out for the rest of 2024.
“Exactly how long he will be out is still a matter of speculation, but it would have to go very well for us to see him on the pitch again this year. But it’s not out of the question,” said Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeness at a press conference on Thursday.
Stuttgart suffered another big injury blow during the international break, when El Bilal Touré sustained a foot injury during a game for Mali.
“We have to assume that he has suffered a more serious injury”, said Hoeness.
Ameen Al-Dakhil (flu) will also miss the upcoming game against Bochum, while a late decision will be made on the availability of Angelo Stiller and Anrie Chase.
Long-term absentees Jamie Leweling (thigh), Dan-Axel Zagadou (knee) and Luca Raimund (thigh) remain out.
On a positive note for Stuttgart, Enzo Millot has been passed fit after shaking off a knock.
