Two of Barcelona star Marc-André ter Stegen’s form Blaugrana teammates have today joined the long list of those to have forwarded messages of support to the goalkeeper.
This, of course, comes amid what has proven an altogether challenging 24 hours for the German international.
Stretchered out of Barcelona’s La Liga meeting with Villarreal on Sunday, Ter Stegen was subsequently diagnosed with a complete rupture in the patella tendon in his right knee.
The 32-year-old was therefore forced under the knife this afternoon, expected to spend the remainder of the season on the sidelines as a result.
Messages of support, in turn, have since come flooding in for Ter Stegen, from across the football landscape.
And, as alluded to above, on Monday evening, two of the German’s former teammates joined the list of Ter Stegen’s well-wishers.
First up was Sergi Roberto, who took to Instagram to write:
‘Be strong Capi! I’m with you. Once again you will show your mentality and I have no doubts you will come back stronger!’
And as much was soon followed by another summer departure from the Camp Nou following suit, İlkay Gündoğan posting a photo of he and his fellow countryman, accompanied by the caption:
“I feel so sorry for you. Wishing you a speedy recovery and all the best my friend! Stay strong.”
