When Eintracht Frankfurt face FC St. Pauli in their first game of the year on Saturday, they may have to do without Tuta.
The 25-year-old defender missed Sunday’s 3-1 friendly defeat to Mainz due to a calf injury and has been training individually of late.
Whether or not he will be deemed fit enough to play against St. Pauli is still up in the air at the moment.
“We’ll have to see if he’s fit enough for Saturday and if it makes sense to bring him back straight away without a lot of training,” Eintracht coach Dino Toppmöller told Bild.
“That’s a risk assessment, because there will be a lot of weeks with more than one game right away,” Toppmöller said, adding that the Brazilian defender could return to team training this week.
The injury kept Tuta out of Eintracht’s last two matches of 2024.
