One of the Premier League’s leading clubs expressed a keen interest in the services of a member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona over the summer.
That’s according to Relevo, who point towards Fermín López as the player in question.
Youngster Fermín is for his part of course fresh off a busy summer.
After first acting as part of the Spain squad which marched all the way to glory at Euro 2024, the 21-year-old followed up by playing a starring role in the nation’s triumphant Olympic campaign, too.
And, as alluded to above, had things played out a little differently, Fermín could have found himself on the move at club level, too.
As per a report from Relevo:
‘After the Euro Cup and the Olympic Games, there were many clubs, particularly English, with Tottenham at the helm, who asked for Fermín’s asking price.’
In the end, however, all interested parties were pointed towards the goalscoring midfielder’s hefty €400 million release clause, swiftly putting an end to any active negotiations.
