Tottenham Hotspur smashed Manchester City in the Premier League last night and this comes before they take on Serie A side Roma.
Guglielmo Vicario made his 50th appearance for Spurs and as he takes on an Italian side for the first time since his arrival at the club later this week, the goalkeeper spoke to Sky Italia about Roma’s appointment of Ranieri as the new manager.
The ex-Empoli man had big praise for Ranieri, who will begin his stint at the club against Napoli later today.
Vicario said, as relayed by VoceGiallorossa: “He is a great person, and he has shown this in all his experiences. Here in England, a few hundred kilometers north of London, he has written history. He knows how to play football, how to manage groups and how to connect with people. He has shown this throughout his career. I think he is the Italian Gentleman par excellence.”
The goalkeeper was also asked about the upcoming game against Roma in the Europa League and he highlighted Spurs’ need to get all three points.
“We want to have our say, we’re playing at home, in front of our fans, we absolutely want to get points.”
Spurs’ emphatic win over City put them at sixth in the table in the Premier League and they are only four points second-placed City, who haven’t won even once in three outings.
Roma haven’t been great in the Europa League so far and this could make the trip to London a daunting task for them.
