Tottenham ‘working on agreement’ with £81m star at Hotspur Way – GiveMeSport

Tottenham need to come up with some “clever negotiations” to convince Harry Kane to commit his future to the club, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Kane’s form in the second half of last season helped fire Spurs back into the Champions League, but the 29-year-old has now entered the final two years of his north London contract.

What’s the latest news involving Kane?

Having recovered from a dreadful opening few months of the campaign under Nuno Espirito Santo, Kane rediscovered his best form to score 17 Premier League goals and lay on nine assists, with all but one of his strikes coming under Antonio Conte.

GiveMeSport Transfer Update With Dean Jones

As a result of Conte’s arrival and Spurs’ fortunes in the transfer window, Kane is once again enjoying his time at his boyhood club, 12 months on from his intense transfer saga with Manchester City.

But come the end of this season, he’ll have just one year remaining on his Tottenham deal, which would leave the club with a major decision on their hands.

However, Alasdair Gold recently claimed that Spurs are expected to launch an offer to the England captain, with Kane ‘open’ to discussing the proposal, which would surely see him spend the majority of the rest of his career in north London.

What did Jones say about Kane?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Ultimately, they want to keep him for the next two seasons. They’re still working on it and are still plugging away, but they’re going to have to come up with some clever negotiations to convince him that this is the right decision.”

Will Kane sign a new contract?

Despite Gold stating that Kane would be open to signing a contract extension, besides a wage increase, which he’s unlikely to desperately need considering he earns £200,000 per-week, there’s no real benefit from his side at this current moment.

With Conte’s deal expiring next summer, Kane will surely wait and decide depending if the Italian ends up staying and whether the club can match his ambitions of challenging for major trophies.

Should Conte end up signing a new deal, then it wouldn’t be a great surprise to see £81m-rated striker follow suit, but until then, it promises to be an anxious wait for everyone connected with Tottenham, with arguably the two most important figures at the club unsure about their long term futures.
