Tottenham Make Huge Ange Postecoglou Sack Decision

Ange Postecoglou is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season regardless of if he wins the Europa League, according to The Telegraph’s Matt Law.

The Lilywhites have had a terrible season so far in the Premier League and currently sit in 16th place with five games remaining, having suffered 18 defeats so far.

However, they are also in the Europa League semi-final where they will face off against Bodo/Glimt, where should they lift the trophy they will automatically qualify for next season’s Champions League tournament. It was believed that could save Postecoglou’s job, but he is now set to depart regardless.

According to Matt Law, the belief inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is now that the former Celtic manager is likely to depart north London at the end of the season.

Postecoglou has come under increasing pressure for his job with fans having turned on him, but Daniel Levy has yet to pull the trigger with the team still in the latter stages of the competition that could send them into Europe’s premier tournament next season.

But now even if Spurs are to lift the trophy this season, it’s expected that Postecoglou could leave the club via a mutual parting of ways rather than being outright sacked.

Postecoglou has had to deal with a host of injury problems throughout the season, but performances even in recent weeks with the injured players having returned have been underwhelming and pressure has increased on his job as a result.

Tottenham are reportedly eyeing several names as potential replacements with Bournemouth coach Andoni Iraola one of the top targets, but reports suggest that he has turned down the chance to speak to the north London side.

Fulham’s Marco Silva has also been linked to the job, while Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Inter Milan’s Simone Inzaghi are alternative options for Daniel Levy. Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner is another name linked with the job, but the Eagles are demanding at least £17m in compensation to let the Austrian leave.
