Tottenham in Contact to Sign Real Madrid Star Antonio Rudiger

Tottenham Hotspur have been contacted over the chance to sign Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger this summer, according to reports.

The Germany international is considering his options ahead of his contract expiry in June and would be open to returning to the Premier League next season.

Rudiger’s camp is believed to be exploring interest across Europe, as Real have yet to offer fresh terms to the central defender, who turns 33 in March.

Tottenham are believed to be one of Rudiger’s several Premier League suitors, along with Crystal Palace and West Ham, with all three clubs already contacted by intermediaries over a potential move.

According to TEAMtalk, Rudiger would be prepared to accept a significantly lower salary than his current terms at Real Madrid if it meant securing a move back to England.

The likes of Spurs, Palace, and West Ham have been offered the 32-year-old, while his former club Chelsea have also been contacted but are not expected to join the battle for his signature.

Rudiger missed the first three months of the season due to a thigh injury and has appeared in nine games across all competitions before suffering another setback.

The Germany international, praised as ‘one of the best defenders in the world’, missed almost a month with a knee injury before returning to the Real squad for the 2-0 win over Valencia last weekend.

Further discussions over the 32-year-old’s future are expected in the coming weeks, with Rudiger also receiving interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League.

The defender, who earns €10m net (£170,000-a-week) per season according to David Ornstein, is claimed to be open to all possibilities as he looks set to end his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, four years after joining Real from Chelsea on a free transfer in 2022.

Rudiger Could Replace Cristian Romero?

Tottenham could be in the market for a new central defender after the season, given the recent uncertainty surrounding captain Cristian Romero’s future at the club.

The Argentina international has been showing signs of frustration at Spurs recently, as he took to social media to criticise the club’s transfer business during the winter window, before losing his temper in the defeat to Manchester United, where he picked up a four-game suspension after receiving a red card for a challenge on Casemiro.

According to reports in Argentina, Real Madrid are admirers of Romero and are keeping a close eye on his situation ahead of the summer transfer window, when the defender is likely to consider his options following a difficult season in north London.
