Tottenham Hotspur facing stiff competition for this talent- The 4th Official

In a recent report, the Irish Mirror mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are facing stiff competition for Red Bull Leipzig defender Nordi Mukiele. It is believed that Spurs would have to rival Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in pursuit of the French full-back.

Mukiele’s Solid Run Of Form In German Football This Season

Mukiele has enjoyed a solid campaign at the Red Bull Arena as he has put in a handful of eye-catching performances for Leipzig over the past ten months. The 24-year-old has scored twice and secured five assists in 37 matches for the German club this season across all fronts.

The one-time France international has been a solid presence on the defensive end of the field based on his average of 1.3 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 1.5 clearances per game in Bundesliga. However, he needs to take care of the ball a bit better after completing only 74% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

Is Mukiele The Right Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Antonio Conte?

Mukiele is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team. He is often quick to spot the danger and doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive. Mukiele is primarily a right-back but can also fill in as a right-sided winger or act as a centre-back if required.

However, the French talent needs to work on improving his offensive productivity if he wants to be a success story in Europe. At the moment, the Leipzig player is good enough to challenge for a regular starting spot at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if Antonio Conte can find a way to get him on board this summer.

We can expect Mukiele to add a lot of bite and steel to Spurs‘ defence. At the very least, the French talent will increase competition for places within Conte’s squad.

At 24, Mukiele’s best years are ahead of him which makes him a decent choice for the North London outfit to pursue this summer. He could even help Tottenham challenge for a major trophy or two in the coming seasons.
