Tottenham have ‘every chance’ of losing key man at Hotspur Way

Tottenham Hotspur still have ‘every chance’ of Antonio Conte leaving at the end of the season with Mauricio Pochettino a potential replacement, journalist Dean Jones has told GIVEMESPORT.

Spurs look set to end the transfer window with two new additions in Arnaut Danjuma and Pedro Porro.

Tottenham latest news – Antonio Conte

The north London outfit may have added two additions to the Italian man’s squad this month, but things on the pitch haven’t always been great with Tottenham currently lying fifth in the standings and having lost three of their previous five Premier League matches.

Conte has often suggested he isn’t completely happy with how things are run at Tottenham, previously snapping at journalist to ask the hierarchy questions over certain subjects rather than himself.

While fans seemingly loved the former Juventus manager at first, it does appear as though frustrations have grown with the style of play – especially this season.

Of course, Pochettino was a fans’ favourite in the capital and is currently a free agent having left Paris Saint-Germain last year – it’s fair to say he would be a popular appointment at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

What did Jones say about Conte?

The journalist raised doubts over the Italian’s long-term future at Tottenham, and of course it will be interesting to see whether he does indeed make it to the summer of if there is a change before then.

He told GMS: “If this season does not end well though, this transfer window becomes irrelevant. There is still every chance Conte could leave and we may even be hearing about a Pochettino return by the end of the season.”

Could Conte leave before the season?

We know that the manager is a volatile character, so I think it’s very much a case of never say never solely because of that.

Of course, it could also depend on Tottenham’s form between now and the end of the season.

Having pipped Arsenal to fourth place in the standings last term to secure Champions League qualification, Conte will be as disappointed as anyone to see his team outside of the top four while the Gunners are very much in a title race.

Things may not get any easier for the Italian and his team for this coming weekend when they come up against reigning champions Manchester City in north London, although Pep Guardiola’s men haven’t looked themselves recently either.
