Galatasaray are making full use of their trip to England as talks over three potential transfers are set to accelerate.
The Turkish club faced Manchester City in the last Champions League group phase game on Wednesday night but plan to leave with at least one new midfielder.
According to reports, Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma is their absolute priority and alternatives will only be considered if no deal can be agreed with Spurs.
The north Londoners were away at Eintracht Frankfurt but Bissouma is not part of Thomas Frank’s squad and is free to leave this month. Galatasaray aim to take advantage of travelling to the UK and will chat to Bissouma’s agent.
Bissouma to hold face-to-face talks
Media in Turkey suggest that Bissouma’s representatives have already spoken to Galatasaray over a move, but they will continue in England over the coming days.
Galatasaray arrived ahead of the match at the Etihad Stadium against City on Tuesday and have sent a delegation out to snap up their January targets.
West Ham’s Soungoutou Magassa and Nottingham Forest man Ibrahim Sangare are also viewed as options but Bissouma is described as being the first choice.
In fact, such is the desperation to get Bissouma over the line, senior figures and management have been flown over to get the deal done. They are said to be ready to discuss a potential transfer and will only move onto Sangare or Magassa if things do not go well with Bissouma.
Galatasaray reportedly already had an offer rejected for Magassa which was rejected but that has not put them off the Frenchman, who was initially seen as a loan option.
Spurs can move on from Bissouma
Although Frank offered Bissouma a lifeline with a first appearance of the season away at Burnley, his future at Spurs is far from certain. The Mali international has been out with injury and through African Cup of Nations duty but is surely headed for the exit door.
He has had discipline issues on multiple occasions since joining from Brighton in 2022 and Frank may have played the diplomatic card in the media but signing Conor Gallagher makes his long-term position clear.
Bissouma is running out of time on his contract and both Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall are above him in the pecking order. They represent the next generation at Spurs.
Frank was openly positive about the 29-year-old in public but his time at Tottenham is coming to an end and it won’t be a serious issue for the club either.
One game left for Bissouma
With Bissouma out of the Champions League squad, he may only have one more appearance left at Tottenham. If he makes it to Sunday’s match against City, ironically, then there will only be one day left to complete a January transfer.
Spurs travel to Manchester United a week later when the window will be shut. There is every chance that Bissouma’s minutes at Turf Moor were his last in a Spurs shirt.
