Tottenham Considering ‘Exceptional’ Manager to Replace Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur chief Daniel Levy will have a ‘big decision’ to make in the summer off-season, with managerial changes potentially being afoot in north London – and Ben Jacobs has revealed on GIVEMESPORT’s ‘Market Madness’ podcast that the Lilywhites continue to ‘like’ two Premier League bosses in Andoni Iraola and Marco Silva of Bournemouth and Fulham respectively.

Another loss in the Premier League on Monday evening, this time to Champions League-chasing Nottingham Forest, saw Tottenham record their eighth home defeat of the campaign to leave them stranded in 16th place in the table, ahead of only West Ham United and the bottom three teams. It’s set to be their worst campaign for over two decades, and that has seen current boss Ange Postecoglou come under severe pressure.

The Lilywhites have had a poor season on domestic soil

Only a Europa League campaign in which Tottenham have reached the semi-finals has kept Postecoglou in the hot seat, where they are just three games from glory on the continent if they can beat Bodo/Glimt to set up a final against Manchester United or Athletic Bilbao.

But a poor Premier League campaign, alongside being knocked out of the League Cup and FA Cup, means that Levy’s tail could be up in the coming months – and that will see Iraola and Silva targeted, according to Jacobs. He said on our ‘Market Madness’ podcast:

Iraola has dragged Bournemouth to lead the race for the ‘best of the rest’ outside of the top seven, and should Aston Villa or Manchester City win the FA Cup, eighth-placed in the division will earn the chance to feature in the UEFA Conference League. He’s done an incredible job, having taken over a Bournemouth side who had only totted up enough points to stay up by the skin of their teeth under Gary O’Neil.

Silva, meanwhile, sits just one point behind the Cherries with his Fulham side, who have consistently been top-half challengers in the top-flight with some incredible displays, leading to him being called ‘exceptional’. Both are primed to finish in the top half as it stands, and sitting at least 11 points clear of Tottenham, that could tempt Levy to make his move.
